This site was created and is maintained by Ryan G. Van Cleave, Ph.D., an international speaker on video game addiction. He’s also the Amazon.com bestselling author of Unplugged: My Journey Into the Dark World of Video Game Addiction.

VGAAW/Video Game Addiction Awareness Week has been around for awhile, but when Ryan’s book Unplugged came out during it in 2010 and no one knew about VGAAW, he decided to create this site to help get the word out.

This site isn’t about badmouthing video games or trying to suggest that all games are evil. The simple goal is to raise public awareness about a growing global epidemic: video game addiction. While statistics suggest that less than 10% of video gamers are addicted, that still equals more than ten million in crisis in the US alone.
